Whether you’re celebrating with a special someone, friends, or family, there’s no shortage of events in Huntsville to fill your calendar during the season of love! From semi-formal events and trail running to Valentine’s-day themed celebrations, and more, here’s a look at just a few of the things to do this February.

The Sound of Music

February 1

Head to the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall for their final performances of The Sound of Music, a Rodgers & Hammerstein classic. Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, this vibrant musical follows the romantic tale of Maria and the von Trapp family. With a showing at 1 and 6:30 p.m., ticket prices range from $57 to $122, and they can be purchased online.

Mardi Gras at MidCity

February 3-17

Celebrate Mardi Gras  at MidCity District’s The Camp. This pop-up party experience is open to all ages and furry friends, too. Offering New Orleans-inspired cuisine, authentic Mardi Gras beverages, and live music every Thursday-Sunday, this event is sure to delight. Party-goers will also enjoy Manny Randazzo’s King Cakes, beads galore, beignets, and so much more.

A Winter Affair

February 5

Benefiting Independent Musical Productions, one of Huntsville’s leading theatre companies, A Winter Affair offers an unforgettable evening of fine dining, live entertainment, and philanthropy. Held at Trilogy Hotel and set against the stunning backdrop of Big Spring Park, attendees will enjoy mouthwatering food and cocktails, a silent auction, and a night of dancing. Only 200 tickets are available for this event.

Slide Deck Dating

February 6

Are you or your friends single and ready to mingle? Slide Deck Dating is your chance to pitch your friend to a live audience. This free event, held at Field Day from 7 to 9 p.m., will feature 10 presenters pitching their friend in 3–5 minute presentations, themed cocktails, food and beverage specials, and dating games between pitches. Pitches are being accepted now through January 30, and selected decks will be notified by February 2.

The Dog Ball

February 7

On February 7, join the Greater Huntsville Humane Society for the 35th annual Dog Ball. From 5:45 to 9:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy dinner, a live and silent auction, the Dog Ball Boutique, and the presentation of the VIDs (Very Important Dogs). All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society’s animal shelter. Tickets and sponsorship information are available on the Humane Society’s website.

Hike at Monte Sano: Oak Park

February 7

This free event invites nature lovers on a moderate hike at the Oak Park Trailhead from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Join the Land Trust of Alabama’s trail running group as they climb up the north side of Monte Sano. Coming in at about 2 miles, this trail features a waterfall and offers a short but vigorous hike.

Seasonal Sips Cocktail Class: A Sensory Affair

February 12

Held at The Orion Amphitheatre at 6:30 p.m., this immersive cocktail class is designed to awaken taste, as well as touch, sight, sound, and scent. The Orion’s expert mixologists will help guests explore mouthwatering pairings of food and beverage, complete with indulgent bites and crafted cocktails. Tickets include two cocktails, light bites, and a take-home recipe card.

Paint Your Partner

February 14

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., head to Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment for a unique date night experience: Paint Your Partner. Led by Stephanie Weaver with Huntsville Art Supply, couples will be provided with all the necessary painting supplies, including canvases, brushes, and paints, to paint your partner and share the results at the end of the evening. Couples will also enjoy alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from Ravenwood’s curated selection. 

Revivalist: Three-Course Valentine's Day Menu

February 14

If the way to your heart is through your stomach, head to the Revivalist this Valentine’s Day for a mouthwatering and romantic meal. This special dining experience costs $90 per person and includes an amuse bouche and three different courses, featuring dishes like tomato bisque, filet mignon, white chocolate tiramisu, and more.

West Coast Swing Dance Class

February 17

Want to learn how to glide, spin, and rock that signature West Coast vibe? This free class taught by the Rocket Westies is held every Tuesday at The Electric Belle at Stovehouse from 6:30 to 10 p.m. This class is open to all, even those who don’t have a partner or have never danced before. Attendees will also enjoy access to The Electric Belle’s bar.

Huntsville Museum of Art’s Annual Gala

February 24, 26, 28

Presented by the Gala Committee, join the Huntsville Museum of Art for their 35th annual gala, consisting of three separate events. Featuring a luncheon with guest speaker Lydia Fenet, the world’s leading charity auctioneer; a black tie dinner and live auction; and a cocktail party and silent auction, this premiere event promises unique cultural activities. Complimentary cocktails and valet will be available at all three events.

Disney On Ice presents Mickey's Search Party

February 26-28

Head to Propst Arena the last weekend in February for Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party. This thrilling performance features Mickey and his friends as they present high-flying acrobatics and unexpected stunts. Featuring skaters including Tinkerbell, Moana, Elsa, and many more, this event offers fun for the whole family. Tickets are available at the VBC Box Office and online.
