Bridge Street Town Center
Downtown Huntsville offers a wide variety of shopping experiences, including stylish boutiques, art studios, and specialty shops featuring Huntsville-themed souvenirs and unique gifts. For the last decade, Clinton Row has been a one-stop shopping destination in downtown and is currently home to more than a dozen independently owned and operated shops – all under one roof. A few blocks over, Harrison Brothers Hardware first opened its doors in 1897, and although it retains its original appearance, the store now features local art and a curated selection of Southern gourmet foods and household goods. The Greene Street Market at Nativity serves as downtown’s farmers market, with a lineup of local farms and vendors every Thursday afternoon throughout its season.
Just one mile from downtown Huntsville is the Lincoln Mill District, where an eclectic array of retailers are stationed alongside restaurants and venue spaces. Shop home furnishings and goods at Brooks & Collier, GLS Kitchen & Bath, The Topiary Tree, or Preservation Co., or find fine leather goods at family-owned Holtz Leather Co. Several clothing and thrift stores, as well as pet supply store Pets Love & Happiness, are also in the area.
Anchoring this part of town is Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment – the largest privately owned arts facility in the Southeast, featuring over 150 working artist studios, seven galleries, and live performances. Built on the site of a former century-old factory, Stovehouse is a premier destination for shopping, food, and leisure. Stretching the entirety of Stovehouse is Gas Light Alley, a village of locally owned and woman-owned shops selling jewelry, houseplants, vintage clothing, kitchen items, and more.
In the Medical District, The Shops at Merchant’s Walk claims North Alabama’s only Whole Foods in addition to Mountain High Outfitters, Envy Boutique, and fashion retailer Dress Up. Across Bob Wallace Avenue, shoppers can continue their spree at stores including Ulta Beauty and J Whitener Boutique. Other local favorites include Golden Griffin and Personal Couture Boutique. Just south of the area, Parkway Place Mall is home to department stores Belk and Dillard’s, plus two levels of specialty stores such as American Eagle Outfitters, Hibbett Sports, Bath & Body Works, The Children’s Place, and Kay Jewelers.
The vibrant MidCity District has The Camp – an outdoor destination with food, drinks, and live music – and 750,000 square feet of retail space. Retailers include outdoor sports store REI, Trader Joe’s, and Havertys Furniture. The Market at MidCity is another district highlight; this farmers market attracts more than 50 farmers, bakers, and makers every Sunday from March through November.
Residents of Jones Valley have no shortage of shopping options in their part of town. Valley Bend at Jones Farm is a shopping center with a number of popular retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Hobby Lobby, Kirkland’s, and Target. Even more retailers are located at Westburg Square, Willowbrook Square, and Logan Square shopping centers. Lendon Corner, anchored by beloved local boutique Sweet Pineapple, is currently being developed to bring top-tier shopping and dining to Jones Valley.
Those living in Madison are treated to a wide range of shops and specialty food stores.
The Shoppes of Madison is conveniently located off Highway 72 and provides several major retailers, including Target, Ross Dress for Less, and Ulta Beauty. Nearby, shoppers can visit Costco Wholesale, Walmart Supercenter, Lowe’s, and The Home Depot. Local produce and homemade goods can be procured at one of two area farmers markets: Madison City Farmers Market and The Providence Market.
Huntsville’s Research Park isn’t just for technology firms and research facilities – here, shoppers can peruse Bridge Street Town Centre, one of the area’s most sought-after shopping destinations. Tenants of the 825,000-square-foot property include Anthropologie, Barnes & Noble, H&M, Kendra Scott, Lego Store, lululemon, Madewell, and many more, with Alabama’s first L.L. Bean store set to open in 2026. When hunger strikes, dining options such as Bravo Italian Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, Kona Grill, P.F. Chang’s, and Texas de Brazil abound. Close to Bridge Street Town Centre are even more shopping opportunities at Bass Pro Shops and Cavender’s Western Outfitter.
Downtown Athens features many small businesses, from trendy boutiques and antique stores to gift shops and art galleries. The Athens Farmers Market, held on Saturdays from June through September, is a local favorite. In other parts of the city, shoppers can frequent big-box stores such as Walmart Supercenter, Lowe’s, Big Lots, and Tractor Supply.
In neighboring Decatur, residents have several options for shopping. Downtown is teeming with boutiques and specialty stores selling vinyl records, gourmet pecans, soy candles, local art, kitchen essentials, and more. The Decatur Mall is a fully-enclosed shopping area offering a number of shops, boutiques, and dining options, while the Crossings of Decatur boasts even more beloved brands. Big-box stores including Walmart Supercenter, Target, The Home Depot, and Lowe’s round out the city’s shopping scene.
