Huntsville’s Arts & Entertainment Districts

Huntsville is continuously growing, evolving, and redefining what it means to live, work, and play in North Alabama. Today, it’s not just a hub for science and innovation; it’s also home to some of the most exciting things to do in Alabama, thanks to a collection of vibrant Arts & Entertainment Districts that bring together food, music, nightlife, and community.

Each district is walkable and, to complement outdoor activities, visitors are allowed to explore with an alcoholic beverage in hand as they move between restaurants, bars, shops, and gathering spaces. These walkable areas reflect Huntsville’s modern transformation – and they’re a big reason the city continues to attract new residents and tourists. With the recent addition of a city-appointed music director and major festivals like South Star Festival, Huntsville’s arts and entertainment scene is only getting louder, brighter, and more dynamic.

Here, we’ll explore all five districts and what makes each of them unique, from iconic restaurants to European atmospheres and more.

Quigley

Named after E.P Quigley, a surveyor who created a street map of Huntsville over 115 years ago, the Quigley District is located in downtown Huntsville. Encompassing the historic Courthouse Square, Big Spring International Park, Von Braun Center, Huntsville Museum of Art, and the Lumberyard area, this area blends walkability, local flair, and an eclectic nightlife scene.

The largest of the entertainment districts, Quigley is packed with things to do. Visitors will find over 50 places to eat and drink, including cozy pubs, intimate restaurants, and craft breweries. Art galleries, public art installations, and frequent live music events can also be found in Quigley. This district appeals to young professionals, couples, and anyone looking for a classic downtown vibe.

Village of Providence

One of the smallest districts, the Village of Providence offers a charming, European-inspired streetscape, combining the best of big city life with quaint, small-town charm. With its boundaries running along Providence Main Street and surrounding the town center, visitors can enjoy award-winning restaurants, boutique shopping, and lively patio atmospheres. This district encourages visitors to stroll, dine, and relax at their own pace.

With broad sidewalks, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a people- and pedestrian-oriented design, Village of Providence is a popular spot for family brunch, after-work happy hours, or relaxed evening strolls. The district hosts live music throughout the year, a weekly artisan and farmers market, and monthly car shows – making it ideal for families, couples, and anyone wanting an upscale yet laid-back night out.

S.R. Butler Green

Centered around a large communal green space, the S.R. Butler Green District is home to two of Huntsville’s most iconic entertainment redevelopments: Campus No. 805 and Stovehouse. Campus No. 805 features breweries (Straight to Ale and Yellowhammer), an arcade bar, axe-throwing, live music, and a packed events calendar. Just a short walk away, Stovehouse offers industrial charm, housed inside a former, century-old Martin Stove Factory. Visitors can enjoy a diverse selection of food and drink, multiple stages for live music, and Gas Light Alley, an eclectic venue for retail shopping.

Known for its laid-back, social vibe, the S.R. Butler Green District is perfect for groups of friends, weekend hangouts, and casual date nights. Whether you’re exploring Campus No. 805’s breweries or relaxing at Stovehouse’s courtyard stage, this area offers a welcoming atmosphere that encourages you to linger, socialize, and make an evening of it.
