Huntsville is home to many gyms, fitness classes, and athlete events for all fitness levels and preferences. From traditional gyms to yoga and pilates studios or strength training gyms, running clubs, and even outdoor fitness parks, you can find a community in Huntsville’s large fitness scene.

For those who prefer a traditional gym with strength and cardio equipment along with other amenities, there are many options throughout the city. There are two Planet Fitness locations in the city, one located north of downtown and another south of the city. Both locations offer strength, cardio, and functional fitness equipment, along with personal training, group classes, and additional amenities such as tanning and massage chairs for those with premium membership plans.

 

Phaze3 Fitness has two locations, one in Madison and one in Jones Valley, which provide a non-intimidating fitness environment at an affordable cost. West of downtown, 24e Health Club is open 24 hours a day. Along with fitness equipment and group classes, the gym offers child care, in-body scans, tanning, personal training, and more. For those in the Decatur area, Crunch Fitness has a wide variety of equipment options, group classes including a cycling studio, and several membership levels to unlock additional benefits. Many neighborhoods and communities offer dedicated fitness and wellness centers for residents, such as the 24-hour fitness and wellness studio located at The Station apartments in the growing Clift Farm neighborhood in Madison.

Specialty Gyms

For those who prefer specific gym environments that cater to certain styles of workouts, Huntsville has many different options. For power lifters and bodybuilders, the Huntsville Gym is a locally owned, 24-hour gym that offers state of the art fitness and strength equipment along with customized training to help you meet your goals, along with a dedicated yoga studio and massage therapists for a well-rounded workout. Invigorate Fitness offers Crossfit-style workouts and Hyrox training, along with group classes and personal training. Near the Jones Valley neighborhood just south of downtown, Regymen Fitness has in-studio workouts that combine HIIT training with structured, functional movement while tracking participants’ heart rates. Rocket City Boxing has boxing coaches that teach in small group environments, with children, teens, and adults welcome.

Fitness Classes

Several boutique fitness studios in Huntsville offer specialty workout classes, such as barre, pilates, yoga, and more. Near downtown, PureBarre offers barre classes that focus on strength, cardio, and wellness, plus a free first class to sample the workout and discounts on class packages. Located at the Stovehouse in Gas Light Alley, The Fitzgerald is a female-only pilates studio with a variety of class types for all levels. Light on Yoga offers all-level yoga classes in a welcoming environment at their downtown studio, with more than 20 instructors on staff teaching various styles of yoga. 

Outdoor Fitness Activities

If you prefer to find fitness opportunities outdoors, be sure to visit one of Huntsville’s many outdoor recreation areas. The city of Huntsville maintains 12 greenways that are perfect for walking or biking. If you enjoy hiking, consider one of the many trails in the stunning Appalachian mountains. You can also canoe or kayak on the rivers during the warmer months, or find a sports court or field and enjoy a game such as pickleball or basketball.
